Upcoming News Article Highlights Brigade-Level Mentorship and Safety Policies

Program Aims to Enhance Rider Proficiency and Reduce Accidents

The Army is implementing a comprehensive Motorcycle Safety Program (MSP) to enhance safety and proficiency among motorcycle riders within brigades and battalions. Under the direction of experienced riders, this program aims to foster mentorship, establish clear policies, and provide essential training opportunities.

The program emphasizes adherence to Army Regulation 385-10 and the Army Progressive Motorcycle Program. It mandates the mandatory attendance of all military motorcycle riders in approved Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) training courses.

Key components of the MSP include:

  • Brigade-level mentorship program pairing inexperienced and seasoned riders
  • Mandatory training requirements as outlined in DODI 60554 and AR 385-55
  • Use of personal motorcycles for advanced motorcycle training

The MSP is a critical step towards reducing motorcycle accidents and promoting a culture of safety within the military. Its comprehensive approach and emphasis on mentorship and training will enhance the safety and well-being of all military motorcycle riders.
